On 19th December 2011 at the Russian Federation Consulate, the Russian-Jordanian Business Council (RJBC) Deputy Chairman Mr. V.A. Kononenko had a business meeting with the Russian Federation Consul in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Mr. R.A. Endovitsky.

The participants of the meeting discussed the matters concerning the RJBC activities in 2011 in the area of trade and economic, scientific and technical cooperation, analyzed the state of the Russian-Jordanian relations as well as the current situation in the Arab countries’ region.

In the course of the discussion the parties dealt with the concept of arrangements and holding of the Russian-Jordanian Tourism Forum 2012 (Moscow, Amman), which aims to promote the profound and progressive advance of recreational, historical, medical and religious (pilgrimage) tourism between Russia and Jordan.

Special attention was given to a new landmark in history of the Russian-Jordanian relations ― an expected opening day of the Russian Pilgrim House on the River Jordan. Due to the opening of the Russian Pilgrim House, which was built by ‘StroytransGas’, plc. on a request from the Affairs Management Department of the Russian Federation President’s Administration, there will be a considerable growth in number of pilgrims from Russia and the near abroad countries, who would like to visit the pilgrimage Holy places and shrines in Jordan.

The Consul gave a positive appraisal of the RJBC activities to strengthen trade and economic, scientific and technological, innovative and political cooperation between Russia and Jordan; supported completely the concept of arrangements and holding of the Russian-Jordanian Tourism Forum 2012, placing emphasis on the timeliness and topicality of the event.

The RJBC Deputy Chairman Mr. V.A. Kononenko, on his side, thanked the Consul for the active support and constructive help in a whole number of events held by the RJBC in 2011 in a Jordan’s territory and a Russia’s territory, as well as for rendering assistance in arranging the official visits of the Jordanian and Russian delegations.

On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council’s activities Mr. V.A. Kononenko in the name of the RJBC presented the Russian Federation Consul in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Mr. R.A. Endovitsky with a Medal ‘For Contribution to Development of Economic and Friendly Relations between Russia and Jordan’ and wished him further success in his work for the benefit of the peoples of Russia and Jordan.

By RJBC’s decision, Director General of Aqaba Railway Corporation Mr. Hussein M. Krishan was invited to the Russian Federation Consulate in order to be presented with a Medal ‘For Contribution to Development of Economic and Friendly Relations between Russia and Jordan’.
