19th Moscow International Exhibition Travel & Tourism (MITT) 2012 (Moscow, Expocentre Fairgrounds)

On 21st ─ 24th March 2012 the 19th Moscow International Exhibition Travel & Tourism (MITT) 2012 took place at Expocentre Fairgrounds.

MITT, which is regarded the Russia’s largest international travel exhibition, is also in the top five of the world’s leading travel and tourism exhibitions and has already won wide recognition among the international tourism community.

Over 3,000 companies from 189 destinations took part in the travel and tourism exhibition in Moscow. Various meetings, forums, conferences and congresses were carried out within the framework of the exhibition; 475 journalists, 54 editorial offices and 9 news agencies dealt with the information support of MITT 2012.

As a part of the Jordanian-Russian Tourism Forum’s activities a Jordanian delegation, headed by Managing Director of the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) HE Dr. Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat, took part in the exhibition. An extensive and various exposition about Jordan, a country of a hypnotic beauty and impressive contrasts, a blessed land located in the core of the Holy Land, was represented by the following Jordanian companies: Plaza Tours, Amira Tors, Al-Thuraya Travel, Desert Horisont, Jordan Holiday Tours, Tyche Tours, IBIS hotel Amman, RJ, ASEZA, etc.

Also during MITT 2012 a conference called ‘Jordan-Russia: Tourism and Travel 2012’ was arranged and conducted with the assistance of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council and Nexen company, which is a JTB’s representative office in Russia. Leading tour operators, key travel agencies and mass media took part in the conference.

Within the framework of the exhibition MITT 2012 Deputy Chairman of Russian-Jordanian Business Council (RJBC), Chairman of the RJBC’s Commission for Tourism, Culture and Religion Mr. Kononenko had a working session with Head of the Jordanian Delegation, Managing Director of the Jordan Tourism Board HE Dr. Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat. Director of Nexen company, a JTB’s representative in Russia Ms. Elena Harvardt, a JTB’s Development Manager HE Mr. Ahmad Al-Sagir, a JTB’s Marketing Manager HE Mr. Mahfouz Kishek attended the meeting as well.

In the course of the negotiations the parties summed up the participation of the Jordanian Delegation in the 19th Moscow International Exhibition Travel & Tourism 2012. Then, RJBC’s Deputy Chairman Mr. Kononenko on behalf of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council noted effective activities of the Jordan Tourism Board (Managing Director is HE Dr. Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat), and its representative office in Russia, Nexen company (Director is Ms. Elena Harvardt) in the sphere of conducting a successful advertising company and arranging an efficient work in the regions of Russia.

After that, the participants of the meeting discussed the matters concerning the preparations for the Jordanian-Russian Tourism Investment Forum, which is planned to be held on 25th -26th June 2012 in Moscow at a Congress Hall of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.

To agree on a format of the forthcoming Forum and to work out a whole number of organizational issues the RJBC’s Deputy Chairman, Chairman of the RJBC’s Commission for Tourism, Culture and Religion Mr. Kononenko and Managing Director of the Jordan Tourism Board HE Dr. Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat had a meeting with Director of the Foreign Economic Cooperation Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of the Russian Federation Mr. S.V. Vasilyev.

The abovementioned Jordanian-Russian Tourism Investment Forum will be held on the Russian-Jordanian Business Council’s initiative and under the auspices of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council, the Jordan Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation with an active participation of the Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities of Jordan, the Jordan Tourism Board, the JTB’s representative office in Russia, Nexen company, and with participation of the Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy of the Russian Federation, the Russia Federal Agency for Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation and the Russian-Arab Business Council. Also thanks to regional resources of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation large investment companies, banks, business corporations, etc. will be involved in the Forum’s activities.

Taking into consideration a great attention devoted by the parties to the development of the pilgrimage tourism, the RJBC’s Deputy Chairman, Chairman of the RJBC’s Commission for Tourism, Culture and Religion Mr. Kononenko had a meeting with Director of a Radonezh Society Pilgrim Service Mr. Y.A. Minulin. The participants of the meeting talked over the questions regarding the cooperation between the Russian-Jordanian Business Council, the Jordan Tourism Board (its representative office in Russia) and the Radonezh Society Pilgrim Service in order to extend the areas of collaboration in general and in connection with a completion of a construction of the Complex in the sacred place of the Baptism of Christ on the river Jordan in particular.
