VI Enlarged Joint Meeting of Russian-Jordanian Business Council Takes Place in Amman City, Jordan

The sixth enlarged Joint Meeting of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council (RJBC) took place on 25th June 2012 at the Jordan Chamber of Commerce during President of the Russian Federation Mr. V.V. Putin’s visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and within the framework of the Russian-Jordanian Business Forum.

The Russian Party was represented at the meeting by: Deputy Chairman of the RJBC Russian Party, RJBC Executive Director Mr. Kononenko, Director of the Russian-Arab Business Council Mrs. Gvilava, Commercial Attache of the Russian Federation Embassy Mr. Bakhvalov, Head of the Corporation TIRA’s (‘Russian Institute of Power Radio Building ‘RIPR’ PLC) representative office in Jordan Mr. Yaseen Al Husban, Director General of the Yaroslavl Electric Machine Building Plant ‘Eldin’ PLC Mr. Akhunov, Director General of the ‘Energoteplomash-export’ PLC Mr. Bokman, Director General of the ‘Kikstroy’ PLC Mr. Kessler, Deputy Director General of the state corporation ‘Zagranstroy’ Mr. Malyarchuk, Deputy Director General of the ‘Voenno-promyshlenny komplex’, LLC Mr. Mishin, Director General of ‘Confael’ PLC Ms. Eldarkhanova, representatives of the ‘Stroytransgaz’ PLC, ‘Russian Railroad Corporation’ PLC, ‘Technopromexport’ PLC, Editor-in-chief of the Business News Department of TV channel ‘Rusiya Al-Yaum’ (Russia Today) Mr. Allaham Rateb Kutaybah Mohammed and others.

The following representatives of the Jordanian Party attended the meeting: Chairman of the RJBC Jordanian Party and Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce HE Mr. Nael Al Kabariti, Co-chairman of the RJBC Jordanian Party and Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Industry HE Mr. Hatem Halawani, Minister of Industry and Trade HE Mr. Shabib Farah Ammari, Secretary General of Jordan Ministry of Transport HE Mr. Laith Dababneh, Secretary General of Jordan Ministry of Agriculture HE Dr. Radi Tarawneh, Member of the Board of Directors of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce HE Mr. Fayez Al-Faouri, Member of the Board of Directors of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce HE Mr. Abdulsalam Al-Diabat, Chairman of Zarqa Chamber of Industry HE Mr. Moh’d Arslan, Chairmen of Farm Enterprises and Agricultural Cooperatives, Heads of Agricultural Associations and others.

The participants of the Council’s meeting discussed the matters concerning the current state of a bilateral trade and industrial, scientific and technical, and investment cooperation; made special mention of an important role the RJBC plays in enhancing cooperation and direct investment partnership between the private sector in Jordan and Russia; gave particular attention to rendering further assistance to Jordanian companies in order to help them to sell agricultural products and the Dead Sea products in a Russia’s territory; focused on the importance of further development of recreational, historical, medical and religious (pilgrimage) tourism between Russia and Jordan; stressed the significance of encouraging and enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation in productive and investment activities. It is a joint activity based on a constructive dialog as a part of cooperation that is considered to serve as one of the most important means to provide development of trade as well as expansion of investment cooperation.

To sum up the Session of the Council, the parties signed the Minutes of the VI Joint Meeting of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council.
