Meeting of RJBC Deputy Chairman Mr. Kononenko with Head of Federal Agency ‘Rossotrudnichestvo’ Representative Office in Jordan Mr. Dorofeev

The meeting of Russian-Jordanian Business Council (RJBC) Deputy Chairman, Chairman of the RJBC Commission for Tourism, Culture, Religion and Social Organizations Coordination Mr. Kononenko V.A. with Head of the ‘Rossotrudnichestvo’ Representative Office, Director of the Russian Science and Culture Center in Amman Mr. Dorofeev A.A. took place on 9^th March 2011 at the Federal Agency ‘Rossotrudnichestvo’ Representative Office in Jordan (Amman City.)

This organization was 85 in 2010. It was founded as the All-USSR Society of Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, which was then reorganized into the Union of Soviet Societies of Friendship and Culture Relations with Foreign Countries, after that into the Russian Center of International Scientific and Cultural Cooperation at the Russian Federation Ministry of Foreign Affairs (‘Roszarubezhtsentr’) and finally turned into the Federal Agency of Commonwealth of Independent States, Living Abroad Compatriots and International Humanitarian Cooperation (‘Rossotrudnichestvo’).

The core activities of the Federal Agency ‘Rossotrudnichestvo’ are participation in the international development support programs, promotion of the Russian education in foreign countries and international cultural cooperation.

‘Rossotrudnichestvo’ together with the Russian Federation Ministry of Education is taking part in working out the Russian Federation education export conception project for Years 2011 — 2020. ‘Rossotrudnichestvo’ works very actively to popularize the Russian language in foreign countries, to make the Russian language and culture extension wider and stronger, to render the assistance in the Russian language learning and making it popular and widespread as an integral part of the world culture and an international communication tool.

The Russian Science and Culture Center partners are: a ‘Russian-speaking Youth of Jordan’ Club, a Society of Jordan and Russia Friendship, a Women’s Club of Russian Culture Fanciers ‘Nadezhda’, a Branch of the Iraqi Satellite TV Channel Rafidein, a National Center of Culture and Fine Arts — King Hussein’s Fund, the Jordan Ministry of Culture, the Jordanian University, a Culture Center by King Hussein, a Jordanian Academy of Music.

The Russian Science and Culture Center in Amman is a part of Russia for Jordanian friends and living abroad Russian compatriots. Everyone can find here something to his or her liking and interests, for instance:

• take part in Literature conferences;
• visit art exhibitions;
• go to meetings with writers, artists and actors;
• see the theatre troupe and artistic company performances;
• read a book in the library;
• have a Computer Studies course.

The Specialists of the Russian Science and Culture Center will offer you a Russian language course, an Arabic language course, an art studio, a musical school-studio, a computer studies course, a choral singing studio, a group of preschool education, consultations on how to get the Russian Higher Education.

Head of the Federal Agency ‘Rossotrudnichestvo’ Representative Office in Jordan, Director of the Russian Science and Culture Center in Amman Mr. Dorofeev A.A. and Deputy Director of the Russian Science and Culture Center Mr. Zaichenko V.I. familiarized Mr. Kononenko V.A. with the activities of the Russian Science and Culture Center and showed him well-equipped video- and press-conference halls, computer classrooms, a library, a picture gallery, classrooms, etc.

RJBC Deputy Chairman Mr. Kononenko V.A. gave a very high appraisal of the Russian Science and Culture Center activities and in the name of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council expressed profound gratitude to the Head of the Representative Office in Jordan, Director of the Russian Science and Culture Center Mr. Dorofeev A.A. and all the staff for their active and fruitful work in this sphere of the Russian-Jordanian cooperation.

During the meeting the matters concerning the cooperation options between the Russian Science and Culture Center and the RJBC Commission for Tourism, Culture, Religion and Social Organizations Coordination were also discussed.
