Business Meeting of Deputy Chairman of RJBC Mr. Valeriy Kononenko with Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Jordan Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh

The arranged with the Russian Federation Consul in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Mr. R.A. Endovitsky’s assistance meeting of Deputy Chairman of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council (RJBC), Chairman of the RJBC Commission for Tourism, Culture, Religion and Social Organizations Coordination Mr. Valeriy Kononenko with Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Jordan Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh took place on 28th April 2011 at the Jordan Ministry of Tourism.

The matters about the cooperation in the sphere of tourism with the Russian regions, including the Siberian region of the Russian Federation, were discussed. Special attention was paid to popularization of religious attractions in Jordan, namely, the sacred place of the Baptism of Christ in the Jordan. The positive dynamics of the expanding number of pilgrims from Russia was noted. It happens thanks to the energetic activity of Baptism of Christ Complex Director Mr. Dia Al-Madani, the position and activities of the Jordan Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, which is headed by Ms. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, and positive and fruitful activity of Deputy Chairman of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council, Chairman of the RJBC Commission for Tourism, Culture, Religion and Social Organizations Coordination Mr. Valeriy Kononenko. Both Ms. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh and Mr. Valeriy Kononenko expressed a general opinion that the official openning ceremony of the Russian House of Pilgrims on the Holy Land on the river Jordan, which is expected to be in 2011, will lead to a considerable growth in number of pilgrims from Russia, which, in its turn, will draw even much closer together the people of Jordan and Russia in their mutual desire for peace and harmony.

Also the subjects concerning the further cooperation in the abovementioned field between the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Russian-Jordanian Business Council were traversed.
