AMMAN (JT) – The Kingdom will celebrate today the 63rd anniversary of the Independence Day.

On the occasion, His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday received cables of congratulations from leaders of several Arab, Islamic and foreign states. The Monarch received similar cables from senior officials and officers yesterday.

All ministries, public departments and institutions observed the holiday on Sunday instead of Monday according to a circular issued by Prime Minister Nader Dahabi.

To mark the anniversary, the Greater Amman Municipality announced earlier it will inaugurate projects valued at more than JD15 million.

King Abdullah I established the Kingdom in 1921.

The country won its full independence on May 25, 1946 following the end of the British mandate.
