6th International SAWSANA Festival 2011 Amman — Jordan

The 6th International SAWSANA Festival 2011 took place on 26-28/04/2011 at Amman International Motor Show Center – Airport Road, Jordan. This festival, which is regarded the first in Jordan and one of the best in the Middle East, was held under the patronage of the Jordan Ministry of Agriculture and personally Minister of Agriculture Mr. Samir Habashneh and with support of:

• Food Chemicals & Preservatives Manufacturers Association, Jordan;
• Agricultural Equipments Manufacturers association of India;
• Agricultural and processed food fiagro, South America;
• Itqan Association for woman agricultural Engineers;
• Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nepal;
• Processed Food Traders Association, Jordan;
• Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sri Lanka;
• Jordanian Association for Cut Flowers & Ornamental Plant;
• The National Center for Agricultural Research and Extension (NCARE);
• Agricultural Credit Corporation;
• Jordan Exporters and Producers Association for Fruits and Vegetables ‘JEPA’;
• Agriculture Engineers’ Association.

The international Festival gathered three exhibitions under its roof: SAWSANA for Agriculture, IRIS for Fruits, Vegetables & Food Industry and VETRANA for Veterinary, Poultry and Feed Additives.

The participated Specialties in the Festival included:

• Organic Foods, Instant Food Products;
• Herbs, Spices and Flavors;
• Chemical and Preservatives;
• Packaging, Wrapping and Processing;
• Herbal Ingredients & Food Products;
• Dehydrated Fruits & Vegetables, Honey;
• Pulses & Fruits, Vegetables;
• Juices & Drinks & Other Products.

SAWSANA for Agriculture & Irrigation and IRIS for Spices, Juices, Fruits, Vegetables & Frozen Food represent the biggest platform for the Food Companies looking for expansion opportunities in the markets of the Middle East.

Over 150 companies from 17 Arab and other foreign countries like China, Egypt, Syria, Palestine, India, Turkey, Kuwait, Iraq, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Cyprus, etc. took part in the Festival.

The meeting of Deputy Chairman of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council Mr. Valeriy Kononenko with Minister of Agriculture of Jordan Mr. Samir Habashneh was held during the exhibition. The possibility of Russian companies — agricultural products producers, exporters and importers, to take part in the 7th SAWSANA exhibition was considered at the meeting. Also the issues regarding the arrangements of the Minister of Agriculture of Jordan’s visit to the Russian Federation in June 2011 were under discussion.
