AMMAN (JT) –– His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday underlined the need for all to work in one team and embark on a dialogue that would yield the envisaged results of the ongoing reform process.

He urged the concerned parties to join ranks in efforts to push forward the reforms, building on the Kingdom’s achievements and eyeing a brighter future for all citizens.

During a meeting with presidents of professional associations, the King said the “path is visible ahead of us”, adding that it is time Jordan moved further in its reform process so as to serve the country and fulfil citizens’ aspirations, a Royal Court statement said.

King Abdullah called for tackling all national issues in full transparency and openness through continuous dialogue based on facts, reiterating his directives to the government to communicate with citizens and all segments of society.

His Majesty underlined the need to combat corruption with all means through enforcing the law indiscriminately on all, calling for the harshest punishment for those found guilty of any type of corruption, according to the statement.

The King stressed the need for the government to embark on launching a comprehensive national dialogue on all laws governing civil and political work, particularly the Elections Law, and according to the mechanism outlined in the Letter of Designation.

The meeting, which included extensive discussions on public issues concerning the country, is part of a series of meetings the King is holding with different political and social activists, the Royal Court said.

Abdul Hadi Falahat, president of the Jordan Agricultural Engineers Association and the Professional Associations Council, commended the “frankness and openness” that prevailed during the meeting.
