The Jordanians wanted to speed up the construction of the nuclear power plant in Jordan after their visit to Volgodonsk City

Bloknot-Volgodonsk / On October, 14th a Jordanian delegation paid a visit to the Rostov nuclear power plant and the plant ATOMMASH. The visitors from the Middle East got acquainted with the production facilities at the Volgodonsk plant.

According to RIA Novosti, Chairman of the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission, Khaled Toukan, said that it may take Russia and Jordan two years to sign a package contract for construction of the first nuclear power plant in Jordan.

At the moment environmental and engineering surveys are being carried out on the site where the nuclear power plant is going to be constructed. The Jordanian side and the Russian company Atomstroyexport have already concluded an agreement that Russian specialists will work out a water-supply project for the nuclear power plant.

In March 2015 Russia and Jordan signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the area of construction of the first nuclear power plant in Jordan. The investment of 10 billion dollars, which is a record volume of investment, is stipulated. The first power generating unit is planned to be launched in 2024, the second one in 2026. The plant ATOMMASH can be chosen as a supplier of the equipment for the nuclear power plant.
