RJBC Deputy Chairman&Director Mr. Kononenko Meets Secretary General of Jordan Ministry of Agriculture H.E. Dr. Radi A. Tarawneh

On 17th September 2014 Deputy Chairman and Director of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council (RJBC), Mr. Valeriy Kononenko, had a business meeting with Secretary General of the Jordan Ministry of Agriculture, H.E. Dr. Radi A. Tarawneh, at the Jordan Ministry of Agriculture’s premises.

The participants of the meeting dealt with a present state of the Russian-Jordanian collaboration in the trade and economic, scientific and technical areas. Special attention was paid to the composition of a Jordanian Agricultural Producers’ Delegation and its forthcoming visit to the Russian Federation in November 2014 under the leadership of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce Chairman, H.E. Mr. Nael Al-Kabariti.

H.E. Dr. Tarawneh emphasized the necessity to arrange for the Jordanian Agricultural Producers’ Delegation during its visit to Russia a number of meetings with the representatives of such Russian companies as specialized in agricultural commodities food market wholesalers and retailers, owners of the major Russian retail chains and logistics companies.

Also the Jordanian Side made a decision about the participation of Minister of Agriculture of Jordan, H.E. Mr. Akef Zu’bi, in the XVI Russian Agricultural Fair Golden Autumn in Moscow on 8^th-11^th October 2014.

Thereby, the Parties at the talks discussed the following list of items planned to be under consideration during the coming visits of the Jordan Minister of Agriculture and the Jordanian Agricultural Producers’ Delegation to Russia:

- adherence by the Russian Party to the base agricultural commodities prices, which will be provided monthly by the Jordan Ministry of Agriculture in accordance with the Amman Central Exchange prices for vegetables and fruit;

- acceptance of prices for Jordan goods as uniform prices at all the ground and air border check-points of the Russian Federation on condition that cargo documents are processed directly in a Russia’s territory without transporting via third countries (a direct air transportation, a surface transport or air transport transit);

- adherence by Jordan to the effective Russian technical regulations and rules guaranteeing safety and product quality, fulfillment of the requirements in force, compliance of the provided sanitary certificates and quality certificates for agricultural production with the operating regulations and requirements for the agricultural commodities trade;

- adoption of a type A customs declaration for vegetable and fruit cargoes, or another type of a customs declaration under the agreement of both Parties, etc.

Finally, the meeting covered the issues of feasible participation of the Jordanian Agricultural Producers, Heads of Jordan Exporters and Producers Association for Fruits and Vegetables in the autumn Agricultural Exhibition, which is going to take place in Moscow in October 2014.
