RJBC Deputy Chairman&Director Mr. Kononenko Meets Secretary General of Jordan Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources H.E. Mr. Ghaleb M. Maabreh

Secretary General of the Jordan Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources H.E. Mr. Ghaleb Maabreh, the RJBC Chairman and Director Mr. Kononenko, the RJBC Project Coordinator in the Jordan’s territory H.E. Mr. Laith Dababneh

On 22nd November 2016 at the Jordan Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources the Russian-Jordanian Business Council (RJBC) Deputy Chairman&Director, Mr. Valeriy Kononenko, had a business meeting with Secretary General of the Jordan Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, H.E. Mr. Ghaleb M. Maabreh.

The Parties discussed the bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Jordanian and Russian enterprises.

Special attention was paid to the perspectives and possibilities of joint participation in the following projects on:

- the geological exploration work and hydrocarbon deposits field development in the Jordan’s territory;

- the cooperation possibilities study and implementation of joint projects relating to alternative and renewable energy sources;

- the shale coal processing;

- the modernization and building of the energy infrastructure facilities including: a) the construction of the LNG terminal in the Aqaba port in order to provide its further processing; b) the reconstruction of the oil loading terminal in the port in Aqaba City;

- the provision of Nuclear Power infrastructure and capacities in Jordan;

- the power engineering specialist training as well as exchange of delegations;

- the participation in development and construction of the Basra (Iraq) ─ Ma’an (Jordan) oil pipeline.

Secretary General of the Jordan Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, H.E. Mr. Ghaleb M. Maabreh, emphasized a positive impact of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council in strengthening and developing of trade and economic, scientific and technological cooperation between Russian and Jordanian enterprises with various patterns of ownership.

In conclusion, the Parties elaborated the ways of further cooperation in the abovementioned areas and agreed on the necessary activities for arrangement and participation in the Fourth Session of the Russian-Jordanian Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation Development as well as the Russian-Jordanian Business Forum, which are planned to be held in the first two quarters of 2017 in Moscow, Russia.
