RJBC Deputy Chairman&Director Mr. Kononenko Meets Secretary General of Jordan Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources H.E. Eng. Amani Al-Azzam

The RJBC Chairman and Director Mr. Kononenko, Secretary General of the Jordan Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources H.E. Ms. Amani Al-Azzam

On 18^th December 2017 at the Jordan Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Russian-Jordanian Business Council (RJBC) Deputy Chairman&Director, Mr. Valeriy Kononenko, had a business meeting with Secretary General of the Jordan Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, H.E. Eng. Amani Al-Azzam.

To start with, the participants of the meeting discussed the bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Jordanian and Russian enterprises.

Also special attention was paid to a tender to explore the potential of conventional and unconventional oil and gas in six open exploration blocks in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (Sirhan, Azraq, West Safawi, Northern Highlands, Jafr and Dead Sea) and participation of Russian companies, which have sufficient relevant experience and high expertise level, in this tender with a possibility of further investment in these projects.

In the course of the talks H.E. Ms. Al-Azzam and Mr. Kononenko gave consideration to issues regarding far-reaching possibilities of joint participation in the following projects on:

- modernization and construction of the energy infrastructure facilities including:

a) construction of the LNG terminal in the Aqaba port in order to provide its further processing;

b) reconstruction of the oil loading terminal in the port in Aqaba City;

- Nuclear Power infrastructure and capacities development in Jordan;

- cooperation in the area of alternative and renewable energy sources;

- participation in development and construction of the Basra (Iraq) ― Ma’an (Jordan) oil pipeline.

In conclusion, both Parties elaborated the ways of further collaboration in the abovementioned spheres and agreed on a number of activities to enhance this cooperation.
