Official meeting of Mr. Kononenko Valeriy A., Deputy Chairman of Russian Part of Russian-Jordanian Business Council, Chairman of the Committee of Culture, Tourism, Religion and Cooperation with Public Organizations, Mrs. Nancy Bakiir, Jordan Minister of Culture, and Mr. Hatem Halawani, Chairman of Jordan chamber of Industry with Mr. Kalugin Alexander M., Ambassador of Russia in Jordan

Mr. Valeriy Kononenko, Deputy Chairman of Russian Part of Russian-Jordanian Business Council, Chairman of the Committee of Culture, Tourism, Religion and Cooperation with Public Organizations, had an official meeting with Mrs. Nancy Bakiir, Jordan Minister of Culture and Mr. Jeryes Samawi, Secretary General of Jordan Ministry of Culture. They discussed the questions concerning the further development of interrelations in the spheres of culture, art, and religion, possibilities of cultural exchange. They came to an agreement about organizing the “Days of Russian Culture in Jordan” in 2008, which would include arranging the exhibition of a world-famous Russian artist Nikas Safronov; folk and applied arts exhibitions; amateur performances, performances of dance groups and pop stars, screening Russian modern films, etc. They also agreed on arranging significant charity activities, round table meetings for public and women’s organizations, and peacemaking activities.

Mr. Kononenko also met with Mr. Hatem Halawani, Chairman of Jordan chamber of Industry and discussed the questions of improvement of the cooperation between industrial companies and science and research institutes of Russia and Jordan, as well as the cooperation of Jordan chamber of Commerce and the Russian-Jordanian Business Council.

The perspectives of Russian-Jordanian Business Council activities in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan were considered at the meeting with Mr. Alexander Kalugin, Ambassador of Russia in Jordan.
