Business Meeting of RJBC Russian Part Deputy Chairman, Valeriy Kononenko, with RJBC Jordanian Part Chairman, Jordan Chamber of Commerce Chairman, Senator Haider Murad

The business meeting of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council Russian part Deputy Chairman, Kononenko V.A., with the Russian-Jordanian Business Council Jordanian part Chairman, Jordan Chamber of Commerce Chairman, Senator Haider Murad, took place on 23rd March at the Jordan Chamber of Commerce.

At the meeting there were the following members of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council Jordanian part:

• RJBC Jordanian part Deputy Chairman, Mr. Fathi Sughayer;
• Jordan Chamber of Commerce Secretary General, Mr. Qasem M. Hamouri;
• Amman Chamber of Commerce Acting Director General, Mr. Mohannad L. Attar;
• Information Department Officials and others.

The matters concerning a day-to-day activity of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council were on the carpet at the meeting. Also the results of the Jordanian companies’ participation in the I Arab exhibition ‘Arabia-EXPO 2008’, which was held on 22nd – 24th October 2008 in Moscow, were analyzed as well as the results of holding the VIII Russian Industrial Exhibition “Expo-Russia 2009”, which took place on 18th – 20th March 2009 in the hotel Le Royal in Amman, were summarized.

It was noted at the meeting that the activity of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council has already taken shape and at the moment is progressing in accordance with the positive dynamics of the Russian-Jordanian interactions. It was also noticed that real business contacts between the leaders and members of the RJBC Russian and Jordanian parts were made. Due to considerate and direct assistance of both parts the Russian-Jordanian Business Council succeeded in arranging and holding a number of official visits of the Russian and Jordanian company representatives and official persons to Russia and Jordan.

Some connections and business contacts with a whole number of Ministries, Offices and Departments were established.

The matters concerning a possible export promotion of the Jordanian pharmaceutical product and agricultural sector production to Russia, establishment of a mutually beneficial cooperation in the area of treatment and restoring of soil fertility, development of irrigation and water consumption systems, development of melioration systems, natural ecosystem productivity, including the irrigation and water consumption closed systems, were analyzed.

The issues regarding the establishment of contacts between Jordanian industrial enterprises and Russian research institutes, the further increase in real bilateral trade and the development of the investment cooperation were under discussion.

V.A. Kononenko informed all the participants of the meeting about the enactment of the Russian Federation Governmental Regulation № 803 of 01/11/2008 ‘On Approval of Regulations of Administration of Russian Federation State Guarantees in Foreign Currency to Render Government Assistance to Industrial Product Export’, which makes easier for the Russian exporters to export the Russian production to Jordan.

After the opening of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council website the provided on it information made possible to offer the new opportunities to do business and extend relations between the entrepreneurs from Russia and Jordan in the areas of industrial, commercial, innovation and cultural cooperation, information interchange about the legislation, laws and rules, mobilization of capital investments and investments.

It was observed that the Russian-Jordanian Business Council positive activity has already had mass media coverage both in Jordan and Russia.

At the same time, the attention was drawn not only to the necessity of the quicker implementation of the practical ways and means of carrying out the Russian-Jordanian Business Council decisions, but also to the need for obstacle detection, if any, and overcoming of these difficulties.

The wishes to direct the Russian-Jordanian Business Council activity to actual problem-solving and realization of practicable plans were expressed.

A question concerning the holding of the IV Russian-Jordanian Business Council Meeting was laboured. The following decision was made: the place and time of the conducting of the Council Meeting will be arranged later, after a number of additional consultations with the RJBC Jordanian and Russian parts are held.
