Fifth Meeting of Russian-Jordanian Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation Development Takes Place in Amman, Jordan

 The Fifth Meeting of the Russian-Jordanian Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation Development took place from 12th to 14th November 2019 in Amman, Jordan. On the Russian party, the meeting was chaired by the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation D. Patrushev, and on the Jordanian party, it was chaired by the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Dr. Wissam A. Rabadi.

 The executives and representatives from the federal ministries and agencies, diplomatic corps, business circles and major business entities composed the Russian delegation.

 In the course of the Meeting the Parties discussed a bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, civil aviation, railway transport, agriculture, healthcare and tourism.

 The project on construction of the small nuclear reactor based power plant in Jordan can be regarded as one of the most promising fields of cooperation. The Parties noted mutual interest in organizing supply of civil airplanes and helicopters as well as in constructing the railway infrastructure and developing the national railway network of Jordan.

 The Commission welcomed and noted in the Final Protocol of the Fifth Meeting the importance of fulfilling the «Cooperation Agreement on the Automation and Standardization of Breast Cancer Screening» between the Ministry of Health of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, JSC «YSAR+», the federal state budgetary institution «N. N. Blokhin National Medical Research Centre for Oncology» of the Ministry of Healthcare of Russia and the Russian-Jordanian Business Council, signed on 12th June 2019 and aimed at the implementation into Jordanian public hospitals the innovative software SORS-MS, developed by JSC «YSAR+».

 In addition to that, the Parties noted that the current level of bilateral trade did not correspond to the available potential and emphasized that there were excellent prospects for further significant increase in mutual trade, cooperation, expanding trade and economic ties and new possibilities to increase a mutual goods turnover.
