RJBC Deputy Chairman&Director, Chairman of RJBC Commission for Tourism, Culture and Religion Mr. Kononenko Meets Minister of Tourism&Antiquities of Jordan H.E. Ms. Majd Shweikeh

b> On 14th June 2019, at the Jordan Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Russian-Jordanian Business Council (RJBC) Deputy Chairman and Director, Chairman of the RJBC Commission for Tourism, Culture and Religion, Mr. Kononenko, had a formal meeting with Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Jordan, H.E. Ms. Majd Shweikeh.

 Minister of Health of Jordan H.E. Mr. Saad Jaber, Senator H.E. Dr. Ziad B. Homsi, Secretary General of the Jordan Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities H.E. Mr. Issa Gammoh, Managing Director of the Jordan Tourism Board H.E. Dr. Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat and others were present at the meeting.

 The participants of the meeting discussed cooperation in tourism for the period of 2019-2020, promotion of the pilgrimage tourism between Russia, Israel and Jordan due to active operation of the Russian Pilgrim’s Residence, constructed by the Russian Federation at the Christ’s Baptism Site on the river Jordan.

 In the course of the discussion the parties talked about medical and wellness tourism, prospects for further development of these areas of cooperation between Russia and Jordan.

 Special focus was paid to further constructive cooperation between the Russian-Jordanian Business Council and, in particular, the RJBC Commission for Tourism, Culture and Religion and the Jordan Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. The negotiators agreed on a number of joint events, aimed at growth in number of tourists in pilgrims’ groups from Russia and Israel visiting Orthodox shrines, holy places and holiday resorts in Jordan.

 In conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Kononenko gave a high appraisal of a contribution of the Jordan Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and H.E. Ms. Majd Shweikeh’s personal contribution to development of friendly ties and economic cooperation with the Russian Federation, and on behalf of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council Mr. Kononenko awarded H.E. Ms. Majd Shweikeh with a Medal ‘For Contribution to Development of Economic and Friendly Relations between Russia and Jordan’.
