On 6th December 2015 at the Federal Agency Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in Jordan (Amman City) Deputy Chairman and Director of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council (RJBC), Chairman of the RJBC Commission for Tourism, Culture, Religion and Social Organizations Coordination, Mr. Kononenko, had a meeting with Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office, Director of the Russian Cultural Center in Amman, Mr. Zaychikov.

In 2015 Rossotrudnichestvo celebrated its 90^th anniversary. It was founded as the All-USSR Society of Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, which was then reorganized into the Union of Soviet Societies of Friendship and Culture Relations with Foreign Countries, after that into the Russian Center of International Scientific and Cultural Cooperation at the Russian Federation Ministry of Foreign Affairs (‘Roszarubezhtsentr’) and, finally, turned into the Federal Agency of Commonwealth of Independent States, Living Abroad Compatriots and International Humanitarian Cooperation (‘Rossotrudnichestvo’).

The key activities of the Federal Agency Rossotrudnichestvo are its participation in the international development support programs, promotion of the Russian education in foreign countries as well as international cultural cooperation.

Rossotrudnichestvo together with the Russian Federation Ministry of Education takes part in working out the draft concept to promote the Russian Federation education for Years 2011 — 2020. Rossotrudnichestvo works on the support and promotion of the Russian language in foreign countries, on expansion and strengthening of the Russian language and Russian culture abroad, on facilitating the studying of the Russian language and making it popular and widespread as an integral part of the world culture and the means for international communication.

The Russian Cultural Center in Amman has a number of partners. They are the Club of the Russian-speaking Youth of Jordan, the Society of Jordan and Russia Friendship, the Women’s Club of Russian Culture Fanciers called Nadezhda, a Branch of the Iraqi Satellite TV Channel Rafidein, the National Center of Culture and Fine Arts — the King Hussein’s Fund, the Jordan Ministry of Culture, the Jordanian University, the Culture Center by King Hussein and the Jordan Academy of Music.

The Russian Cultural Center in Amman is a part of Russia for Jordanian friends and living abroad Russian compatriots. Everyone can find here something to his or her liking and interests. For instance, visitors of the Center can:

-         take part in the Literature conferences;

-         see some art exhibitions;

-         meet writers, artists and actors;

-         see the theatre troupe and artistic company performances;

-         enjoy reading a book in the library;

-         and have a Computer Studies course in the computer class.

The Specialists of the Russian Cultural Center offer to take the Russian language course or the Arabic language course, to join an art studio, a musical school-studio or a choral singing studio, to attend a computer studies course, to take children to a group of preschool education, and to get any consultations on how to get the Russian Higher Education.

Head of the Federal Agency Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in Jordan, Director of the Russian Cultural Center in Amman, Mr. Zaychikov, told Mr. Kononenko about the activities of the Russian Cultural Center and showed him around the Center which has some well-equipped video- and press-conference halls, computer classrooms, a library, a picture gallery, some classrooms, etc.

The Russian-Jordanian Business Council Deputy Chairman and Director, Mr. Kononenko, gave a very high appraisal of the activities of the Russian Cultural Center and in the name of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council expressed a profound gratitude personally to Head of the Representative Office in Jordan, Director of the Russian Cultural Center, Mr. Zaychikov, as well as all the staff for the active and fruitful work in that direction. On behalf of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council Mr. Kononenko awarded Mr. Zaychikov with a Medal for Contribution to Development of Economic and Friendly Relations between Russia and Jordan.

During the meeting the negotiators also discussed the options for cooperation between the Russian Cultural Center and the Russian-Jordanian Business Council Commission for Tourism, Culture, Religion and Social Organizations Coordination in the areas of tourism and culture promotion, broadening of collaboration between the Russian Federation and Jordan Institutes of Higher Education on specialist training programme for Jordan, foundation of the Russian-Jordanian University and establishment of the Russian-Jordanian Innovation Center, etc.
