The Opening of IX Russian Industrial Exhibition «Expo-Russia 2010» in Amman, Jordan

On March, 24th, 2010 in Amman Exhibition Center Hotel “Holiday Inn Amman” with the support of Russian-Jordanian Business Council the IX Russian Industrial Exhibition «Expo-Russia 2010» was opened. This event was organized under the patronage of Russian Chamber of Commerce and Trade.

At opening ceremony the Ambassador of Russia in Jordan Alexander Kalugin noticed that official visit of His Majesty  King  of Jordan Abdally II in the middle of March, 2010 had given an additional impulse to the whole russian-jordanian cooperation. In particular, during the meetings of Monarch of Jordan with President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev and Prime- Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin the matters, concerning an attainment of peace in the Middle East, were discussed. It was marked that the opinions of Russia and Jordan, regarding the necessity of renewal of the palestino-israel peace talks as the only way of stopping conflicts in this region had coincided. Ambassador underlined the interest of representatives of business of Russia and Jordan in broadening  cooperation and, in particular, participation of  Russian investors in realization  of economic projects, which are important for Jordan – development of atomic engineering, building of railways, uses of water resources.

A. Kalugin also noted the importance of signing the Program of cultural cooperation, covering education, science, interactions of the youth organizations and preparation of qualified personnel, by Ministers for Foreign Affairs of Russia and Jordan in Moscow. Ambassador said that during the visit the next step in development of military-technical cooperation between our countries had been made.

The head of diplomatic representative office was sure that the Russian Industrial Exhibition “Expo-Russia 2010” would promote strengthening and broadening Russian-Jordanian trade and economic cooperation which currently has volume of about 400 million US dollars.

Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce Senator Nael Al Kabariti and Chairman of the Russian part of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council Evgeniy Novitsky  underlined the importance of developing cooperation in economic between two countries. They told that the Russian business can use Jordan as a starting point for an establishment of business contacts with other countries of this region. Along with it it was marked that the Jordanian business circles can consider Russia as a place for an establishment of business contacts on the territory of former Soviet Union.

According to the agreement between “Rossotrudnichestvo” and “ZARUBEZH-EXPO” RTSNK information and organizational assistance and support was provided in carrying out this event.

As guests of honour there were Ambassadors of Russia in Syria S.V. Kirpichenko and in Iraq V.V.Shuvaev, representatives of Embassy of Russia in Jordan, representatives of the organizations of the Russian compatriots, the club of graduates of the Russian/Soviet high schools, the Society of Friendship «Jordan – Russia», the Jordanian partner organizations and correspondents of the Jordanian mass-media.
