Madaba. The ancient town on the map of the Holy Land

Modern Madaba – an ancient biblical Medeba, the capital of the kingdom of Moab mentioned in the Bible. This is an interesting little town, which is located about 35 kilometers south of Amman, capital of Jordan. The city of Madaba is the administrative center of the homonymous province (Arab. “Governorate”), in whose territory are often unique shrine as Baptism Site of Jesus Christ; Machaerus – the place of execution of the holy Prophet and Forerunner of Christ of St. John; Hill Ascension of the Holy Prophet Elijah; Mount Nebo – Mount Moses; Source of Moses; many other holy places and attractions.
