Abu Hammour takes part in meeting of Council of Arab Ministers of Finance

AMMAN (JT) – Minister of Finance Mohammad Abu Hammour on Monday left for the United Arab Emirates to take part in an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Finance in Abu Dhabi. In a statement sent to The Jordan Times yesterday, Abu Hammour said the meeting aims at coordinating the financial policies among Arab states, exchanging expertise as well as drawing up a unified vision over the latest economic and financial developments in the region and the world. Abu Hammour added that food security challenges and ways to stimulate inter-Arab trade and investment are among the major issues that will be discussed during the conference, which will be attended by senior officials from international economic and financial institutions.

Real estate trading rises 24% to JD4.355b in first 8 months

AMMAN (Petra) ––– Real estate trading during the first eight months of this year amounted to JD4.355 billion, 24 per cent higher than the JD3.512 billion during the same period of last year. According to figures issued by the Department of Land and Survey (DLS), trading in August stood at JD550 million compared with JD596 million in August 2010. The DLS revenues totalled JD142 million during the frist eight months of this year, while the value of exemptions stood at JD142 million. In total, the value of the department’s revenues and exemptions went up by 29 per cent compared with the same period of 2010. The data also showed that 3,569 non-Jordanians bought land so far, the majority of whom were Iraqis followed by Kuwaitis and Saudis respectively.
