First Jordan nuclear power plant planned to be built by 2020. This is stated in the press service of the Kremlin for a meeting in Moscow on Tuesday, August 25 Russian President Vladimir Putin and Jordan’s King Abdullah II.
“The construction of the station is scheduled for completion by 2020, after which the share of nuclear energy in the energy balance of Jordan amount to 15%. The project will cost about 5.4 billion dollars”, – the press-service.
The Kremlin is reminded that it is a large joint investment projects. Jordanian-Russian inter-governmental agreement on this issue was signed in Amman on 24 March this year. It is reported by Tass.
As reported by Tass, signed the documents then put the head of the state corporation “Rosatom” Sergey Kiriyenko and Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission of Jordan / Jordan Atomic Energy Commission / Khaled Toukan. The tender for the construction of NPP “Rosatom” won in November 2013, beating rival – a Japanese-French consortium of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries – Areva.
