RJBC Deputy Chairman&Director Mr. Kononenko Meets Secretary General of Jordan Ministry of Agriculture H.E. Eng. Mahmod Al-Jama’ani

On 19^th December 2017 at the Jordan Ministry of Agriculture, Deputy Chairman and Director of the Russian-Jordanian Business Council (RJBC), Mr. Valeriy Kononenko, had a working meeting with Secretary General of the Jordan Ministry of Agriculture, H.E. Eng. Mahmod Al-Jama’ani.

In the course of the meeting the negotiators agreed to contribute to an increase in bilateral turnover and create favorable conditions to stimulate the growth of current and future reciprocal commodity deliveries volume as well as to expand the range of the commodity items.

Due to the fact of ongoing export restrictions on Turkish agricultural goods to the Russian market, H.E. Eng. Mahmod Al-Jama’ani asked the Russian Side to expand the Jordanian agricultural products deliveries to the Russian market and suggested arranging and having a number of meetings in 2018 between the Jordanian agricultural products exporters and the Russian leading retailers and food market operators. Also H.E. Eng. Mahmod Al-Jama’ani proposed once more to submit for consideration at the Russian-Jordanian Intergovernmental Commission Session the issues about granting to Jordan a preferential regime for the agricultural products export in winter time from 1^st November to 1^st May and some customs allowances during the rest of the year.

The participants of the talks also discussed issues regarding export promotion for agricultural products and food supplied by a number of Russian companies to the Jordanian market.

Special focus was on implementation of actions by the Jordanian Side aimed at easing of imports for meat products, chilled cattle meat and poultry meat from Russia to Jordan.

Summing up the meeting, the Parties discussed ways of further collaboration in the Jordan market development by the Russian companies in such areas as grain export, grain products export and agricultural machinery production.
