On 11.03.2015, at the Jordan Ministry of Tourism&Antiquities’ premises, Russian-Jordanian Business Council (RJBC) Deputy Chairman&Director, Mr. Kononenko, had a meeting with Secretary General of the Jordan Ministry of Tourism&Antiquities, H.E. Mr. Issa Gammoh.

In the first place, the participants of the meeting discussed a number of matters concerning further development of cooperation in the area of recreational, historical, medical and pilgrimage tourism and agreed on a list of joint events to be planned for Years 2015.

Also, in the course of the discussion the parties agreed on events to be implemented in order to make Jordanian tourist companies and the Dead Sea Coast and the Red Sea Coast Hotels Directorates interested in the abovementioned fields of collaboration. Special attention was paid to the possibility for the leadership of the Jordan Ministry of Tourism&Antiquities and the representatives of the Jordanian private tourism sector to take part in the Second Session of the Russian-Jordanian Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation Development, which is going to take place in November 2015 Amman

H.E. Mr. Gammoh emphasized the necessity to arrange a meeting for the Jordanian tourism business representatives with the leading Russian tourism operators and agencies within the framework of the forthcoming Commission Session.

In order to reach an agreement on issues about the participation of the Jordanian tourism business representatives in the Session of the Russian-Jordanian Intergovernmental Commission, Mr. Kononenko also had a meeting with Regional General Manager Jordan&Palistine of the InterContinental Hotel Group, H.E. Mr. Oussama Massoud. The InterContinental Hotel Group includes such world-famous hotel brands as the Crowne Plaza, the InterContinental, the Holiday Inn, etc.

The negotiators once again concretized the feasible directions of further mutually beneficial cooperation with the representatives of the Russian regional tourism agencies and major Russian tourism operators.

Summing up the meeting, Mr. Kononenko gave a high appraisal of the InterContinental Hotels Group’s contribution and a valuable personal contribution of its Regional General Manager, H.E. Mr. Oussama Massoud, to development of fruitful cooperation between Russia and Jordan and awarded H.E. Mr. Oussama Massoud with a Medal ‘For Contribution to Development of Economic and Friendly Relations between Russia and Jordan’.
