AMMAN – Orange Jordan on Tuesday launched automated bill payment systems through which its subscribers will be able to pay their bills and top-up their prepaid accounts in a fully automated manner.

A total of 15 electronic payment devices were placed in all high traffic Orange centres in Amman, Zarqa, Irbid and Aqaba, Orange Mobile’s Chief Executive Officer Majd Shweikeh told reporters, indicating that the total number of devices will reach 30 by the end of this year.

“The new devices will save customers time and efforts as they will not have to queue in long lines,” she said at a press conference on Tuesday. “By using the devices, they can pay their bills for mobile, landline or Internet or top up their balance in less than 30 seconds.”

The new devices, launched and under an agreement with Global Express Pay, serve subscribers who are usually predisposed during official working hours by allowing them to pay their bills any time. Prepaid subscribers are able to top-up their balance with vouchers between JD1 and JD32, she added.

Once a client pays the bill, he/ she will receive a receipt immediately.

Shweikeh said the devices were installed to help reduce the crowding and queues in Orange centres, especially that 80 per cent of those crowded at the centres are there to pay their bills.

She explained that this initiative comes as part of Orange Jordan’s efforts to introduce new and innovative services that carry added value to its customers.

“This step comes to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to facilitating and adding more flexibility to our customers’ lives as this was our prime objective since the very beginning,” she stated.

Present at the press conference were Boulad Boulad and Merza Boulad from Global Express Pay.

Boulad Boulad, the president of the Global Express Pay, highlighted the benefit of using the devices, saying that they are prepared to validate cash.
